The Bentley Arnage is a relatively recent brand of luxury car; production on this type (and on the Silver Seraph, which ceased production in 2002) began in 1998, and ceased in 2009; according to Bentley, this was done to celebrate the model’s tenth anniversary. The company designed it to replace the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit/ Bentley Mulsanne, introduced in 1980; between then and 1998 they had made no completely new designs. The Bentley Arnage was powered by a BMW V8 engine, unlike its predecessors, which used 6.75- litre V8 engines. Assembly on the car was done in the old railroad town of Crewe, in Cheshire County.

There were a number of versions of the Bentley Arnage — the Red Label, the Green Label, Series 2, and the Diamond Series. Queen Elizabeth rode a modified form of the Red Label to celebrate her golden jubilee. The convertible Bentley Arnage Drophead Coupe, a concept car, was exhibited at the LA Auto Show early in 2005 before being produced in Crewe more than a year later. One of this car’s main influences, according to the designers, was the 1955 Park Ward Continental Drophead Coupe, with which it shared such features as the line along the flank that rose towards the back, and the leather pad on the arm rests.

The Bentley Arnage Final Series made its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October of 2009. Only 150 cars were made, each with four Bentley “brollies” stored in the boot, and badges in certain places, including the wings. Naturally, cars of this model are being sold by used car dealers; for instance, there are currently 22 for sale at the website of V Cars.

Since the Bentley Arnage ceased to be produced, its position as Great Britain’s “flagship luxury sedan” has been taken by the Bentley Mulsanne.

If you like to be the talk of the town, no matter where you go, and like to make sure that you are noticed in a crowded location, owning a bentley arnage can greatly help you attain the “fame,” status you are going for, but, it will come at a cost, a very high cost. Since the introduction of the Bentley Arnage a number of spectacular models have been added to the Bentleys collection such as the Flying Spur. The Bentley Arnage is still one of Bentley’s flagship luxury super sedans. The Arnage appeals to people who appreciate its old-styled lavishness and power.

The Bentley Arnage is available in three models; the Arnage T, Arnage RL and the regular Arnage. All Arnage models come with the Bentleys 6.75 liter V8 twin turbo engine. The Arnage T model comes with the most impressive power, with a 500 horsepower capacity and 738 pound feet of torque power. The Arnage T comes with a six speed auto-transmission and can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in just about 5.2 seconds. The other two models come with 645 pound-feet of torque and 450 horsepower capacity.

The Bentley Arnage sells for about two hundred and fifty million dollars and is specifically created for speed and comforts. The inside of the vehicle is quite roomy with comfortable and eye catching leather. Extra functions include climate control, rear reclining seats, DVD navigation park assists and Bluetooth.

The Bentley Arnage does not come with the latest engineering and technology functions available in latest Bentley models or latest models of other brands. Of course, with high spec cars come high price tags, but this in itself is another reason as to why Bentley has become a timeless manufacturer – footballers, movie stars and businessmen alike strive to be seen in one of Bentley’s status symbols. If you’re looking into buying a Bentley, it’s perfectly normal to get all excited and run down to your nearest showroom. But before you sign the dotted line, why not have a look outside the showroom and see what buying a used Bentley could do for you?

Buying a used car, especially a used Bentley, is not everyone’s cup of tea. Brand new, one of these would set you back 200,000 for the saloon, or close to 220,000 for the coup convertible. Expensive stuff, but how much would you be looking to spend to get yourself behind the wheel of this fashionably understated monolith of luxury?

Amazingly, a budget of 200,000 could get you an ’09 reg Azure convertible with only 180 miles on the clock. 175,000 will get you an ’08 reg Azure saloon with 4,000 miles on the clock, and a humble 119,000 will get you an ’06 reg Azure saloon with 20,000 miles on the clock. Of course, the 6.8 litre turbocharged monster under the bonnet needs to be well maintained to keep it at its best, incurring other costs besides. But if you’re looking to bag yourself an absolute icon for less than the showroom, why not buy a used Bentley?

When the most distinguished automakers are discussed, Bentleys are generally one of the first manufacturers cited and touted. Rotary-engine wiz Walter Owen Bentley founded Bentley Motors in 1919. It is easy to see how Rolls Royce and Bentley were once one organization. The company, which has been a subsidiary of Volkswagen since 1998, is flourishing. It is as popular among today’s royalty as it was in its fledgling heydays.
The A-B-Cs refer to the Arnage line, the Azure, the Brooklands, and the Continental group. Here is look at the 2008 offerings of Bentley Motors.

The Bentley Mulliner factory logs in overtime when the sporty Arnage T, the elegant Arnage R, and the touring limousine Arnage RT are on the work calendar. This is where a Bentley goes to be modified to fulfill subtle to radical requests by customers. These classic sedans contain special privacy and security unique to Bentleys. The Bentley Azure is the convertible of the premium auto line. However, it is both a performer and a looker with a 6.75-liter V8 engine that has a top speed of 171 mph. It is convertible that retracts in 25 seconds and performs just like the GT. What else is there to say? Both Bentley models possess an unconventional 12-cylinder engine that is configured in four banks of three cylinders in a W formation. The compact engine configuration allows for more storage space.

The Flying Spur is a sedan that thinks it is a GT. With a six-speed automatic transmission, a top speed of 195 mph, and zero to 60 mph in less than five seconds, it is understandable why the F-Spur thinks it is so spry- because it is. The interior technology, including the DVD satellite navigation system, is sophisticated, functional and stylistic.

The History of Bentley – 1910-1929

In 1912, W. O. Bentley and H. M. Bentley began in the car business as sales concession for three cars, these three cars were the Buchet, La Licorne and the Doriot, Flandrin and Parant known in short as D.F.P. The D. F. P. was built to be a racing machine, and W. O. Bentley designed all new aluminum alloy pistons for it. Because of his success, Rolls-Royce and Sunbeam also adopted the pistons. These pistons also began use in aircraft engines.

Bentley Motors, Limited was created in 1919 and saw its last days under its original conception in 1931. This original company, though short lived, had a very colorful, fast paced time in history. With racing successes and financial failures, this company had its ups and downs. This original company was owned by two brothers, W. O. and H. M. Bentley. W. O. Bentley was the mastermind behind the engineering and was a very accomplished race car driver. He was also the face of the company, while his brother stayed in the back ground and handled the business management side of things.

After World War I, Bentley wanted to make a car that was to completely satisfy all of his desires of a car. This car would need to be stately on the road but savage on the track, a totally stock car that could race on a track. These new cars not only raced, they won races, this put them in demand and sales followed. The cars were often completed just in time for their delivery. Soon people were pushing for a Le Mans victory. In 1923, a 3 liter Bentley competed in the La Mans, it finished in fourth place but it also recorded the fastest lap time for that race.

Though in 1924 Bentley came home with a hard earned trophy, they still were having financial difficulties. Bentleys were expensive vehicles and people were hesitant to drive them for this reason. People believed that since the car was so fast, it also would be hard to control. In 1926, the company got a reprieve when millionaire Woolf Barnato purchased controlling stock in the company and became the managing director. In 1927, Bentley took the dubious honor of the strangest accident in that tracks history as all of the competing Bentleys ended up in an accident with one another. One of the Bentleys, though beaten and tattered, went back out on the race track and sped through the night at speeds over 90 miles per hour.

In the dawning of the new day, the big, tough green car, tattered though it was, drove to final victory. In honor of this valiant car, it was parked in it’s battered state in the elegant dining room of the Savoy in London and was the guest of honor at the celebration dinner. After an illustrious career on the track, Bentley retired from racing in order to produce elegant passenger cars of exceptional detail and an enormous engine. Even with this, in 1931, Bentley Motors LTD faded into history as its assets were bought up by Rolls-Royce who then began producing Bentleys. As time went on, the Bentley became less and less of an individual and more and more a copy of the Rolls Royce of the time. Today, the Bentley differs from the Rolls Royce only in it’s own radiator grill.

Recently, VW has come into possession of the venerable Bentley name and to their credit, they are continuing in the old Bentley tradition with the car in general and La Mans racing in particular. The Bentley brothers would be proud to know that Rolls Royce is no longer in control of their namesake vehicles.
